Wongan Hills is located 182 kilometres north of Perth in the Wheatbelt region.

It is located at an elevation of 286 metres above sea level. The town has a hotel, plus a railhead and a bulk handling facility for shipping the wheat grown in the surrounding 3385 sq km shire. A museum and two restaurants are also located within the town, which has a resident population of about 750.

The name comes from the range of flat topped hills lying to the is a prosperous agricultural region with activities focused around sheep, grain and pig-farming.

The hills represent the largest single area of natural vegetation remaining in the northern Wheatbelt. The local flora in the hills is diverse with more than 1400 species of flowering plants, 24 of which are unique to the area.

Accommodation is available in the town at the hotel/motel, plus at the guesthouse. The caravan park also provides a range of accommodation. A roadhouse provides seven day service for fuel and food.
