Wangara is located in the City of Wanneroo, 24 kilometres north of Perth.

It is mostly a light industrial area, with a resident population of about 65 and covers 5.8 square kilometres. It varies in elevation from about 31 metres to 83 metres above sea level.

Ocean Reef Road forms the northern border and Wanneroo Road/Indian Ocean Drive forms the western border of the area. A few market gardens still exist in the south of the area, although the high value of local land means that these will over time also be converted to industrial use.
