Wandering is located 120 kilometres south east of Perth.

The town's small school operates with mixed-grade classes. Accommodation is available at a caravan park with powered sites. The old Agricultural Hall now hosts a community resource centre for the use of the town's residents, and a nearby hall hosts severallocal community groups and clubs.
The town is also the gateway to the local Dryandra woodlands where visitors can view native animals in their natural habitat. Pumphreys Bridge crosses the nearby Hotham River with a picnic area and a nearby hall with cooking and toilet facilities.
