Walpole is located 432 kilometres south, south-east of Perth and 66 kilometres west of Denmark, and is one of the few towns through which the Bibbulmun Track passes. The area is famous for the old growth forests of giant tingle and karri trees, plus for the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk situated in the Walpole-Nornalup National Park.

The areas surrounding Walpole are truly still native wilderness, heavily forested and often only accessable along unmade dirt tracks, although the main roads into and through the area are excellent, and take visitors through the magnificent tingle forests, along winding country roads that often weave and wind through valleys and over ridges deep within the forest, with no towns or hamlets to interupt the journey. These roads at times appear as though they will go on for ever. Absolute magic!

Walpole is a long established, compact and pleasant hamlet consisting of a couple of hundred mostly older timber houses, that provide a total tree change to the often hectic and stressful life experienced in Perth.
