Tambellup is located 290 kilometres south east of Perth, on the Great
Southern Highway and the Gordon River, between Katanning and Abany.
The area has a resident population of about 650, the main industry is sheep farming, while sandalwood harvesting also continues.
The town has a hotel and a caravan park, plus bed and breakfast accommodation is also available. Plus, a community resource centre, a library, a museum and a filling station, shops, a post office and a bank branch are available within the town.
The Tambellup Agricultural Show is organised and operated by members the Tambellup Agricultural Society, and held each year on a Saturday in mid October.
The Gordon River runs near to the town, with picnic sites located next to the river.
