Ocean Reef is located in the City of Joondalup, 28 kilometres north of Perth.
The area has a resident population of about 8000, and covers 5.1 square kilometres.
Plans are currently in place to develop the Ocean Reef Boat Harbour into a substantial entertainment centre. A cycle path and walkway hugs the coast from north to south, providing pleasant views of the coast and the ocean.
Substantial protected coastal dune reserves are at some points up to 400 metres wide, and act as a buffer between the local roads and houses and the Indian Ocean foreshore.
The area is bordered by Shenton Avenue to the north, Marmion Avenue to the east, Ocean Reef Road to the south and the Indian Ocean to the west. Joondalup Resort and the Connolly Golf Course are located nearby to the west.
