Nungarin is located in the North Eastern Wheatbelt region,
approximately 278 kilometres east of Perth and 39 kilometres north of
Merredin.
It is the main town in the Shire of Nungarin, and has a population of about 200.
The town has a single street, with bulk loading facilities and a railway siding located on one side of the street and the pub plus a few shops located on the opposite side of the street.
The Nungarin Wheatbelt Markets are held on the first Sunday of each month from March to December. Information about the local heritage trail can be obtained from the Post Office.
Hotel, guesthouse and caravan park accommodation is available within the town. Also, some shops are available, and internet services can be obtained at the local Community Resource Centre.
Wheat and sheep farming in the main economic activity, although some pig and cattle raising and gypsum mining is also carried out. The area receives an average rainfall of about 300 mm.
