Northcliffe is located in the Shire of Manjimup, 358 Kilometres south of Perth.

The town has a population of about 400, it is located at an elevation of 118 metres above sea level and services the surounding rural area.

Surrounded by karri, marri and jarrah forest, the town is close to the Warren, D'Entrecasteaux and Shannon national parks. It is primarily a farming area, with dairy farming, wool, grain and vineyards. Logging activities are also carried out locally.

Places of natural beauty near to the town include Mt Chudalup which is a granite monolith, also Northcliffe Forest Park and the beaches at Windy Harbour are locations to be visited.

The town contains a primary and district high school, a post office, a cafe, museum, recreation centre, town hall, hotel, gallery and supermarket. Plus, a public playground with a barbecue and gazebo.

Community organisations in Northcliffe include Southern Forest Arts, the pioneer museum, the Community Resource Centre, the arts association, a workers club, a recreation association and the local visitor centre.

Departing from the Visitor Centre the Understory Sculpture Walk, managed by Southern Forest Arts, is a popular 1.2km walking loop through the forest featuring artworks, stories, poetry and music. Visit the Southern Forest Arts website.

Other wonderful walks in the area, including the Bibbulmun Track, provide opportunities for birdwatching and the study of exotic native plants. A variety of accomodation is available locally, ranging from cottage farmstays, motels, hotel and backpackers, to camp sites and bed and breakfasts, plus caravans and chalets.
