Northampton is located 52 kilometres north of Geraldton on the North West Coastal Highway in the Mid West region of the state.

The town has a resident population of about 800 and is known for its many wildflowers. Also, the cave paintings located at the Bowes River turnoff indicate that the region was previously inhabited by Indigenous Australians.

The Annual Northampton Show is held in mid September each year. With agricultural displays, craft and produce exhibitions, markets, show jumping, sideshows, fireworks and other entertainment. The event is held at the Northampton Showgrounds and the Northampton Community Centre.
