The town has a population of about 900 and is a stop on the Australind train from Perth to Bunbury.
Located 30 minutes south east of Perth, the area contains parks, art galleries, restaurants, wineries and wildlife. Many artists have established homes and studios within the area.
The forests, parks, rivers and other attractions near the town provide perfect locations for bushwalking. Many farms and orchards are located within the area, and some of the old buildings contain heritage and museum collections, plus arts and crafts shops and tea gardens. A tavern and tea gardens are also located within the town.
Previously the town serviced the needs of nearby timber mills, and has since the demise of the mills played an important role in supporting the local poultry, dairy and equestrian industries.
Mundijong Markets take place on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month, and a range of livestock & animals are offered for sale. In season fresh fruit and veg is available from from local producers. Entry is free, the Markets open at approx 9am and the auction starts at approx 11am.
