Maylands is located in the City of Bayswater, 5 kilometres north east of Perth.

The area has a resident population of about 10,500 and coveres 5 square kilometres. Development first occured in the area during early colonial times.

It is located on the north bank of the Swan River, and is serviced by the Maylands Rail Station which provides commuters with connections to Perth and Midland. Also, a bicycle/pedestrian path links Maylands with neighbouring suburbs along the Swan River reserve. A yacht club and golf course are located on the Maylands Peninsula.
