Maddington is located in the City of Gosnells, 20 kilometres south east of Perth.

The area has a resident population of about 9000, and covers 10.7 square kilometres. Development commenced in the area during the 1950s.

The Canning River flows to the south west of the area, providing access to many riverside reserves, and Albany Highway runs through the area from the north west to the south east.

The Maddington Square shopping centre is located in the area on Attfield Street, and some remnant agricutural land still exists within the area.
