The area has a resident population of about 3000, and covers 1.8 square kilometres. Development in the area commenced during the 1960s.
It is a residential area with a series of parks connecting along Bannister Creek parallel to Nicholson Road. A small neighbourhood shopping centre and community hall are located within the area.
The area is bounded by High Road to the south and south-west, by Nicholson Road to the east and by Metcalfe Road to the north and north-west. The Canning River is located about 300 metres north-east of the boundary.
Several public parks are located within the area, plus the Canning River flows nearby to the nothwest, to the north and to the north east, proving access to many riverside public open spaces within the river reserve.
