Leeman is located on the coast 300 kilometres north of Perth.

Predominantly a cray fishing town, it is also home for the families of workers at the mineral sands mine at Eneabba. The Mining Company built many houses for their staff in Leeman.

The town, which was formerly known as Snag Island, has a population of about 400 which doubles during the tourist season, contains a caravan park, a primary school, roadhouse, picnic area, boat ramp, cafe, take-away outlets and the Leeman Club. Plus, fishing, swimming and diving spots. The area is also a popular windsurfing location.

Beagle Island, located north of Leeman, hosts a breeding colony of between 150-250 Australian Sea Lions. Plus, the area is one of the best wildflower viewing areas in the state, with flower displays available from late July to November.
