Lake Monger is a large urban wetland located between Leederville, Wembley and Glendalough about five kilometres north of Perth.

Situated alongside the Mitchell Freeway, the lake consists of 70 hectares of mostly open shallow water with an 1.3 hectare island located in the south-west part. The lake and the surrounding grassed parklands cover 110 hectares and are known as the Lake Monger Reserve.

It is a tourist attraction and recreation area, with many thousands of visitors accessing it each week. Activities include bird watching, cycling, relaxing and exercise.

A 3.5 km paved walking/cycling track surrounds the lake and can be walked in about 30 minutes. Car parking, playground equipment and barbecue facilities are available near the lake.

 

At least 38 species of birds are found within the reserve including Black Swans, cormorants, spoonbills and pelicans.
