The town of Kwinana is located 38 kilometres south of Perth.

The area contains the Kwinana Hub which includes a shopping centre, the Kwinana Recreation Centre, Kwinana Aquatic Centre, the Kwinana Police Station and the Town of Kwinana Council Chambers. Adjacent to the Council Chambers is the Koorliny Arts Centre.

The Kwinana rail line passes through the proposed new town centre. The Kwinana Freeway to Perth is located to the east and Thomas Road passes close by to the north. Substantial new development is taking place, and more development is planned for the future of the area.

The Spectacles nature reserve is located immediately to the north of Thomas Road, while  the Kwinana Beach industrial area is located 5 kilometres to the west on Cockburn Sound.
