Kukerin is located in the Wheatbelt region, 308 kilometres south-east of Perth between Wagin and Lake Grace off State Route 107.

The town is small, although services a considerable agricultural region in the eastern Shire of Dumbleyung.

Wheat and sheep farming are the main activities in the area. The town contains a general store, a primary school, hotel, caravan park, newsagency/post office and sports fields.

Each year a TrachMach Fair is held on the last weekend in September, with various vintage and modern vehicles on display, and a megascreen on which the AFL Grand Final can be viewed.
