Koorda is located in the North Eastern Wheatbelt region approximately 236 kilometres east of Perth.

The shire is in the north-eastern section of the Central Agricultural Division. It has a population of approximately 600 which consists mostly of the local farming community who are dedicated to growing wheat and coarse grains, plus sheep farming.

The local Agricultural Show is held each year in early September and promotes primary industries, including livestock, machinery, minerals, manufacturers and produce, plus art and craft.

Also, contests, field competitions and entertainment for all are available. The show provides opportunities for social gatherings of local and former residents. The Koorda Wildflower Park is located 16km north of town on the Mulji Road, and features many species of wildflowers found in the district.
