It is an exclusively residential location, with the Lake Goollelal wetlands (part of Yellagonga Regional Park) located in the eastern part of the area. Also, several public parks and nature reserves are located within the area.
It is serviced by Whitfords Rail Station and the Mitchell Freeway, both of which connect commuters to Perth and to Joondalup.
The rail line and the Mitchell Freeway form the western boundary of the area, Whitfords Avenue forms the northern boundary, Lake Goollelal forms the eastern boundary and Hepburn Avenue forms the southern boundary.
