Kalbarri is located 592 kilometres north of Perth in the Mid West region at the mouth of the Murchison River.

Getting to the town from Perth takes about 1.5 hours by plane or 6 to 7 hours by road.

The town is a tourism centre, with the Kalbarri National Park, Murchison River Gorge and the Murchison River within reach. Charter boats are available to visit the Murchison River, and 200,000 tourists visit the town each year where the population grows from about 1,400 to more than 8,000 during the major holiday seasons.

Fish for snapper, groper, dhufish, spanish mackerel and tuna. See wild dolphins, experince whale watching and dine on freshly caught rock lobster.

The town services the tourism and fishing industries, with attractions including the daily pelican feeding and the Kalbarri National Park. Also, two charter boats are available on which to visit the Murchison River and Gorge.

The Kalbarri National Park covers 183 000 hectares and is located on the lower reaches of the river. Deep red and white banded gorges stretch for 80 kilometress along the river.
