Jerramungup is located in the Great Southern agricultural region, 454 kilometres southeast of Perth on the Gairdner River.

Situated in an agricultural district that produces sheep, wool, grains and fresh water crayfish. During recent years the district has diversified into tourism and fish processing industries. In terms of accommodation, the town has a hotel, a motel, a caravan park, and a bed and breakfast.

200 tonnes of granite sourced from Jerramungup was used in building the Australian War Memorial in London opened in 2003.

Fitzgerald River National Park is located nearby. The park includes the Barren Mountains and Eyre Range and the Fitzgerald River. 62 plant species are unique to the 329,882 hectares park and a further 48 are rarely found elsewhere.

Almost 40,000 visitors vist the park each year. The Park contains magnificent scenery, including mountain ranges, red cliffs, rivers, inlets and white sanded beaches, plus the clear blue waters of the southern ocean. The Quaalup Homestead Wilderness Retreat now run as a hotel was built in 1858 is located within the park.
