Jarrahdale is located 50 kilometres south-east of Perth in the Darling Range.

Natural beauty is the areas greatest feature, with forest walks and postcard views of what the Australian bush had once been. The steep slopes of the surrounding hills are the native habitat in which the trees thrive.

Many mill sites existed in the jarrah forest surrounding the town, although some were flooded when the Serpentine Dam was built. Old railway embankments and cuttings found throughout the area are signs of the productive past of the area.

The last timber mill site which still contains relics of its existence was operated by Bunnings until 1997. The  following year also saw the cessation of activities at the Alcoa alumina operations.
