Jandakot is located in the City of Cockburn, 21 kilometres south of Perth.

The area has a resident population of about 3200, and covers 17.9 square kilometres.

It is best known for its small, although busy airport, which is used for pilot testing and domestic plane flights. It is the busiest secondary airport in Australia. The airport was opened in 1963 and enjoys almost perfect year round flying weather.

The airport occupies almost half of the land in the area. The Roe Highway forms the order to the north, Kwinana Freeway to the west, Johnston Road to the east and Fraser Road, Jandakot Road, Solomon Road and Armadale Road to the south.
