Guilderton is located at the mouth of the Moore River in the Shire of
Gingin, 94 kilometres north of Perth.
In 1931, forty 17th-century silver guilder coins were discovered in the sandhills near the entrance to the Moore River. The coins were thought to originate from the wreck of the Dutch ship the Vergulde Draeck (Gilt Dragon) that had foundered on a reef north of the river-mouth near Ledge Point in 1656. The town was therefore named Guilderton in 1951.
The Guilderton Caravan Park is situated at the mouth of the Moore River and is a family friendly holiday destination less than 100 kilometres from Perth, with pristine beaches and lots of holiday activities available.
Many individual holiday accommodation properties are also available in the area.
