Gnangara is located in the City of Wanneroo, 24 kilometres north of Perth.

The area has a resident population of about 1200, and covers 14 square kilometres. It is a semi rural location containing many market gardens.

The area is bordered by Ocean Reef Road and Gnangara Road to the south, by Badgerup Road and Ross Road to the west and by the Gnangara, Moore River Forrest to the northeast and east.

The 18-hole golf course Lakelands Country Club is located to the south. Lake Jandabup is to the north west and Hocking is to the west.

The rare and endangered Carnaby's cockatoos have been sighted feeding on pine seeds in the plantation area.
