Glen Forrest is located in the Shire of Mundaring, 20 kilometres east of Perth on the Darling Scarp.

The area has a resident population of about 3000, and covers an area of 54 square kilometres. The area was originally developed around the timber milling industry, although today the majority of employed residents commute to work outside the area.

Several  conservation reserves are located within the area including the Glen Forrest Super Block. Also, John Forrest national park is located immediately to the north of the Great Eastern Highway.

Two commercial areas are located within the are - one adjacent to the former railway station, and the other to the north on the Great Eastern Highway.
