Girrawheen is located in the City of Wanneroo, 15 kilometres north of Perth.
The area has a resident population of about 8000 and occupies an area of 4.1 square kilometres. Development of the area commenced in the early 1970s.
Wanneroo Road forms the boundary to the west, Beach Road to the south, Marangaroo Drive to the north and Mirrabooka Avenue to the east.
The area contains two small shopping centres, Newpark and Summerfield. Several public parks are located within the area which include sporting facilities. A library and a community centre are located adjacent to Summerfield shopping centre.
A recreation centre is located on Hainsworth Avenue. Marangaroo Golf Course is located nearby to the north of the area, and Warwick Leisure Centre is located nearby to the west.
