Edgewater is located within the City of Joondalup, 23 kilometres north of Perth along the Mitchell Freeway and northern rail line.
The area has a resident population of about 4,700 it is exclusively residential, with a small local shopping centre and a medical and veterinary facility. Also, a local filling station and garage are located along Edgewater Drive.
Joondalup Drive forms the western boundary of the area, Lakeside Drive forming the northern bounday, Ocean Reef Road forms the southern boundary and Lake Joondalup in the Yellagonga Regional Park forms the eastern boundary. No major roads run through the community, creating a quiet and exclusive, low traffic location.
The local terrain is undulating, with the elevation of the land rising more than 30 metres throughout much of the area. This provides many selected homes with magnificent views across the nearby regional park and lake - which is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the metropolitan region.
This leafy location includes an abundance of green parks and public open spaces, including Emerald Reserve, Wedgewood Park, Hilltop Reserve and Quarry Ramble Park. Plus, Picnic Cove which is located on the foreshore within the Regional Park.
The prestigious Mater Dei College is located on Treetop Avenue, and the Joondalup Campus of Edith Cowan University is located immediately to the north of the community, within the city of Joondalup.
This very special location is serviced by Edgewater Gate, with shops and services located on the west side of Joondalup Drive, it is also serviced by the nearby Joondalup City, Lakeside Shopping Centre and the conveniently located city centre shops. The community is serviced by Edgewater Rail Station which provides commuters with direct access to Perth and Joondalup.
The Indian Ocean and the popular Mullaoo Beach are located just five kilometres to the west along Ocean Reef Road.
