East Cannington is located in the City of Canning, 11 kilometres south east of Perth.

The area has a resident population of about 3,400 and covers an area of 2.8 square kilometres.

The Armadale rail line forms the south west boundary of the area. Thomas and Gibbs Streets form the north west boundary, Welshpool Road the north boundary and Lacey Street forms the south east boundary. The area is serviced by the Cannington rail station.

It is a residential suburb, containing a number of public parks and a small shopping centre located on Gerard Street. Westfield Carousel shopping centre is located in nearby Cannington.
