Darling Downs is located in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, 34 kilometres south south-east of Perth.

The area has a resident population of about 800 and covers 9.8 square kilometres. The elevation ranges from about 21 metres to 41 metres above sea level.

It is a semi rural area containing many hobby farms.

Wungong Brook runs nearby to the north east. The Tonkin Highway is to the west, Thomas Road is to the south, and the  South Western Highway, plus the foothills of the Darling Scarp are located to the east.
