The Town of Cottesloe is located 11 kilometres west of Perth.

The area has a resident population of about 7000, and covers an area of 3.8 square kilometres.

It is a beachside location approximately halfway between the City of Perth and the port of Fremantle and is famous for its beaches, cafes and lifestyle. The area is serviced by Swanbourne, Grant Street, Cottesloe, Mosman Park and Victoria Street rail stations on the Perth to Fremantle line.

The Vlamingh Memorial marks the southern boundary of the area, Stirling Highway, Congdon Street and West Coast Highway to the east, North Street to the north, while Marine parade and the Indian Ocean to the west mark the other boundaries. Much of the area is residential, although a large shopping area is located along Stirling Highway. Also, Sea View Golf Club with a the 9-hole course is located on Jarrad Street.

Swanbourne Reserve and Allen Park are located nearby to the north. Two surf lifesaving clubs are located in the area, these are Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club and North Cottesloe Lifesaving Club.
