Corrigin is located 229 kilometres south east of Perth.

The area has a resident population of about 1400 and is a key agricultural centre for the district, which focuses mainly on wheat and sheep farming.

A district high school, bank, shopping facilities, hotel, motel, and caravan park, council offices and a community resource centre are located within the town.

The Corrigin Agricultural Show is organised and operated by the Corrigin Agricultural Society, and takes place annually in mid September.

The town is a stop on the Transwa bus service to Esperance via Kulin/Hyden.
