It has a resident population of about 1100 and is located on the coast with an average elevation of 5 metres above sea level.
The Ningaloo Reef is located offshore and is popular for diving and snorkeling with a large range of coral and fish. It is also one of the best places to view whale sharks and manta rays.
Humpback whale migrations can also be viewed here between June and October.
