Cloverdale



Cloverdale is located in the City of Belmont, 10 kilometres east of Perth.

The area has a population of about 6500, and covers an area of 3.9 square kilometres. Development originally commenced in 1910 and continued for about 50 years.

It is bordered by Belmont Avenue to the southwest, Sydenham Street to the northwest, Epsom Avenue to the northeast, Tonkin Highway to the east and Leach Highway to the southeast. Abernethy Road runs north-west to south-east through the area.

The area is mostly residential. Although the north west side includes some commercial and civic areas along and close to Abernathy Road. The main shopping precinct is Belmont Forum located in the centre of the area, and a smaller neighbouring centre Belmont Village is located to the north. To the south is Leach Highway and Kewdale, including the Kewdale Freight Terminal.

Opposite Faulkner Park, located in the centre of the community, a civic area includes the council offices a library, museum and a senior citizens centre. Small groups of two or three shops are located through the area, reminicent of how trade was conducted in the days prior to mass car ownership and large shopping centres.
