Chittering is located in the Shire of Chittering, 50 kilometres north of Perth.

Located in the foothills of the Darling Scarp on the Brockman River and between the towns of Gingin and Toodyay, the area has a resident population of about 2000 and is elevated 135 metres above sea level.

It is a rural location in which sheep and cattle graze and the uninterupted songs of the birds can be heard each day. The Chittering Valley Road is an especially beautiful country road that provides scenic views as it winds its way up through the valley.

An area of Chittering known as Lower Chittering is being developed into rural residential properties each of about 5 acres.

Accommodation is available in the area in farmstay, bed & breakfast or chalet facilities. Food outlets include a bakehouse, roadhouse and restaurant, picknick in Clune Park or at other picnic sites around the area.

The Great Northern Highway traverses the area north to south  and orchards, farms and vineyards dot the hillsides, plus locally made arts and crafts are displayed at the Brockman Centre.

Also, a hardwood forest known as Julimar is located nearby, and a huge variety of wildflowers can be viewed in the area. Plus, a  wine and sculpture trail meanders through the hills of this beautiful location.
