Carnamah is located 307 kilometres north of Perth, and is a typical northern wheat–belt farming area with a town population of approximately 600 and a shire population of approximately 1800.

From late July through to December, Carnamah and the entire wheat belt becomes a wildflower extravaganza with more than 600 species of wildflower found across the region. The Carnamah-Eneabba Wildflower Drive is one of the most spectacular wildflower displays in Western Australia.

The North Midlands (Carnamah) Agricultural Society runs the annual Carnamah Show on the Town Oval during mid September.
