Boyup Brook is located 269 kilometres south-southeast of Perth and 31
kilometres northeast of Bridgetown.

The Upper Blackwood Show (known locally as the Dinninup Show) is organised and operated by members of the Upper Blackwood Agricultural Society. The show is held each year during early November on Melbourne Cup Day, which is the first Tuesday in November at the Upper Blackwood Show Grounds, 17 km east of Boyup Brook on the Arthur River Road. The Boyup Brook Country Music Festival is held during February each year and has been held annually since 1986, with attendances growing from 600 in the first year to over 17,000 in 2008.
The festival runs over four days and includes concerts, a Ute & Truck Muster, free Street festival and the biggest Bush Poets Breakfast. The event is rated among the top 10 festivals held in the state and is one of the must see events in the Western Australia.
Boyup Brook District High School is a level 5 district high school catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 10 with most students moving on to other schools for the Year 11/ 12 component of their secondary education. The school's students are drawn from families involved in farming, viticulture and local business.
