Booragoon is located in the City of Melville, 10 kilometres south of Perth.

The area has a resident population of about  5,500 and with the exception of public open space. With the shopping centre and Applecross Senior High School it is exclusively residential. The City of Melville local government offices and the Garden City Shopping Centre are located within the area.

Wireless Park is a large bushland area located in the the north west part of the area close the the Canning Highway and the Swan River. Myaree light industrial area is located nearby to the west, while Mount Pleasant and the Canning River are located to the east and Leach Highway forms the southern boundary.
