Boddington is located 120 kilometres south-east of Perth. The town sits on the Hotham River and on the road from Pinjarra to Williams.

The name Boddington originates from Henry Boddington a shepherd who grazed his sheep on the banks of the Hotham River in the late 1800's.

The establishment of bauxite mining in 1979 and the opening of the Boddington Gold Mine in 1987 have combined to create a thriving mining town. A number of scenic drives and tracks enable visitors to experience bushwalks through state forests and wildflower country.

The Boddington Lions Rodeo is  held each year on the first Friday evening and Saturday in November. The event includes a shearing competition, a street parade, a dragon boat race on the Hotham River, rodeo events and a country & western cabaret with live music from early evening until late.

Organised sporting activities within the town include badminton, basketball, swimming, bowling, cricket, darts, football, soccer and golf. Plus, hash house, hockey, minkey, horse riding, rifle club, rodeo and tennis.

Boddington is increasingly popular as an idylic location in which to live and work, or in which to retire. With new residential developments supplying a range of housing opportunities within the Boddington town site and the surrounding countryside.

Medical facilities are mainly supplied by the Boddington District Hospital, whch is a fully integrated health service providing in and out patient services, plus home and community care services.
