Bellevue
Bellevue is located partly in the City of Swan and partly in the Shire of Mundaring, 23 kilometres east of Perth.
Bounded by the Helena River to the south, Great Eastern Highway to the north and Military Road and Cowie Close to the west, it is a mix of residential, industrial and parkland, which is located mainly along the Helena River, near to Greenmount.
The mix of industrial and residentially zoned land has created significant issues within the community. The area has a long history involving heavy industry and environmental pollution, and in 2001 a large chemical fire on an industrial block placed the entire area at risk due to contamination of the local groundwater table. Extensive remedial action was taken in an attempt to prevent the pollution reaching the local river systems.
The area is bisected north to south by the Roe Highway, and east to west by the Great Eastern Highway. Greenmount National Park is located about 3 kilometres to the east.
