Beeliar
The area has a resident population of about 4,500, and is located about 4 kilometres from the Indian ocean at Jervoise Bay. Stock Road runs north-south through the area and joins onto Rockingham Road.
The Beeliar Regional Park is located nearby, and consist of two chains of lakes and wetlands which run in a north-south direction to the west of the township.
The most westerly chain of lakes and wetlands lie about 1–3 km inland from the Indian Ocean and include Lake Coogee. These are mostly saline and often described as seasonal because they often dry out during summer months.
The second chain of lakes are located a further 6–8 km inland and include several large perennial freshwater lakes including Bibra lake, Yangebup Lake and Thomsons Lake.
The northern-most point of the chain is located in the Mount Pleasant area to the south of the Swan River and continue 25 kilometres south to Baldivis.
The wetlands have been identified as supporting native flora and fauna that are essential to maintaining the biodiversity of the region. Located in and surrounded as they are by encroaching residential areas, the wetlands are under threat from pollution.
The State Government has incorporated the remnants of the wetlands, including some 19 lakes and numerous other wetlands into the Beeliar Regional Park. The park is not a continuous expanse of land, it instead consists of several separate locations.
