Balingup



Balingup is located in the South West of Western Australia, 241 kilometres south of Perth. The town is situated on the South Western Highway and is known for the scenic beauty of the surrounding hills.

The town is also known for its annual festivals such as the Small Farm Field Day held in mid April, and the Balingup Medieval Carnivale held in late August. It is also one of the few towns through which the Bibbulmun Track passes.

Serveral pleasant walks are available through the pretty countryside around Balingup, including along the track.

Golden Valley Tree Park is a sixty hectare landscaped park set in picturesque hills close to town. The heritage listed site is now the largest arboretum in Western Australia and displays an extensive collection of trees, the first of which were planted over one hundred years ago.

The area contains a number of exceptional historical properties, including the heritage listed Southampton homestead located 12 kilometres to the south of the townsite. The local area is very popular with individuals who are seeking to ecape the city and experience to the county life.
